Limited Series with Limitless Inspiration: Producing The Best Man: The Final Chapters PR Mailer

It’s pretty epic when you’re approached to do a PR mailer for the revival of a classic movie franchise you’ve been obsessed with since high school. And that’s what happened for DeNeitra when Peacock added a PR mailer for The Best Man: The Final Chapters

Being a part of this epic revival gave us limitless inspiration after decades of watching these iconic films that set the stage and shared the essence of Black excellence in every facet of their production. Director and showrunner Maclom D. Lee shared about the revival

“It is now more than ever that the world is craving to see what I’ve worked my entire career to show: relatable, universal stories about Black people and their humanity. It has always been my mission to make African-American stories mainstream.”

This franchise was very much one of the first to show real Black stories, not stereotypes. For decades now, they have paved the way for Black excellence and relatability to shine and rise. And we wanted to exude that sentiment with every mailer. 

Let’s take a look at the inspiration and final product!

Picking Up Where We Left Off 

This limited series was an eight-episode revival that picked up just a few years after the most recent movie, The Best Man Holiday, released in 2013.  

Where the first movie in the 90s shared this group of friends in the early years of their adulthood, the revival shares the mid-life metamorphosis of those same friends. It highlights their successes, as Lee wanted to really focus on upwardly mobile Black individuals in a way not portrayed on screen before. But it also humanizes the story with trials and tribulations, real-life tragedy and comedy, and all the stories of love and friendship that play out in our own lives! It’s relatable, engaging, and totally binge-worthy… which leads us to the PR mailer contents for the perfect watch party!

And Celebrating the Next Chapter

Each mailer was super elevated from the moment you laid eyes on it. The box was a traveler’s trunk, which proved to be the perfect vessel for the luxe goods inside.

When recipients opened the trunk, they were greeted with a plexiglass invitation to watch the revival and offer a final toast to Harper, Robyn, Jordan, Lance, Quentin, Shelbly, Candace, and Murch. 

The first gift was a plush blanket branded with the show logo. But the fun didn’t stop there…

After removing the top tray that held the blanket, guests unveiled the next layer, which was an insert where we added an HD screen and played the trailer for the series. Above was a single eternal rose to represent the everlasting impact this show has had on the Black community and culture.

And, y’all know we go big. So, no surprise, we turned the page with more treats.

The final layer was a custom insert that held two champagne glasses and a bottle of Moet & Chandon for the toast, a Marshall speaker to make sure the final chapters were played on blast, and a custom poker chip set to re-create your own poker night as they love so dearly in the show.
