One Event, Two Mailers: How Savvy Leveraged Creative Marketing Concepts for FIFA World Cup Campaigns

Whether you’re a sports fan or not, you have to appreciate the sheer amount of camaraderie, joy, and excitement that comes from a global event like the FIFA World Cup. With its global popularity, it should come as no surprise that multiple companies wanted to leverage the event as a part of their marketing strategy. With that, Savvy was approached by two very different companies to produce creative marketing concepts for mailers to celebrate the FIFA World Cup. 

Both Degree and Telemundo asked what we could do to generate excitement and brand loyalty. And, of course, our team came together like a top-seed World Cup team and got to work! Today we are going to share how we cultivated two totally different luxury mailers for the exact same event. 

Telemundo Luxury Press Mailer

Soccer, or should we say fútbol, is without a doubt the most popular sport among Latin and Hispanic nations and cultures. And as a Spanish-speaking network, it was no surprise that the FIFA World Cup was the most anticipated event streaming on Telemundo all year long. That said, they wanted creative marketing concepts to celebrate this highly popular event among their viewers and partners.

The mailer featured a showcase/ closet design that held:

  • An Adidas FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Al Rihla Pro Official Match Ball in a luxe plexiglass display case that easily slid out of its shelf with a satin ribbon to pull
  • A 2022/2023 Argentina home jersey (we know how to pick a winner…), which sat atop lush green turf that lined the bottom of the drawer

The interior of the box featured the official logo in Spanish, as well as flagship images of global soccer superstars Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Lionel Messi (Argentina), and Christian Pulisic (USA).

Oh, and did we mention we designed, sourced, customized content, produced, and mailed in 10 days? No lie. We do some pretty epic work when the game clock is running out and no time can be added!

Degree Luxury Press Mailer

Now, for Degree, a global deodorant brand, we put new creative marketing strategies in play! Their box was fashioned to be a replica of a soccer stadium, complete with a sold-out crowd and real floodlights that shone on the box as you opened the lid. 

As recipients removed the soccer field top, they unveiled a multi-tier gift box holding: 

  • Two cans of Degree Men Advanced Protection Cool Rush Antiperspirant Deodorant in aerosol spray cans
  • A black and white Adidas Essentials Warm-Up Three Stripes Track Jacket branded with the Degree logo
  • A TheraGun Mini Handheld Electric Massage Gun branded with the Degree logo
  • A Chargeball Soccer PRO Kit featuring a glow-in-the-dark soccer ball, and an LED-lined Chargebag complete with a power bank to charge the ball in 20 seconds

The box featured the Spanish tagline used in their advertising for the World Cup: “No te abandona.” This essentially means Degree won’t abandon you, speaking to the durability and protection their product offers!
