Pinterest and Wedding Planning

I hope your week is off to an amazing start! I had a ridiculous amount of fun thrifting yesterday and today. I picked up some really amazing pieces for an upcoming 50th birthday party Savvy is planning. I’ll share some of my favorite new goodies on the blog later in the week after I’ve had time to give them a little TLC.

I wanted to stop by today and share my thoughts on Pinterest as it relates to wedding planning. I absolutely love Pinterest – I have gotten a ton inspiration, recipes and amazing DIY tutorials from the site. What I’ve been noticing more and more, however, is that brides take the inspiration gained while scowering Pinterest boards to extremes. Often times the inspiration that brides come across does not fit within the constraints of their actual wedding budget. Yes – a flower wall with thousands of beautiful flowers is a really great idea, until I have to break their heart and tell them what the flower wall will actually cost them.

I went a little over board when it came to planning my own destination wedding in Mexico earlier this year and had about 3 secret boards that I was totally obsessed with. Fortunately, because I had a more intimate wedding I was able to execute most of the Pinterest inspiration I came across, but oftentimes brides get caught up in making their wedding look exactly like something out of a magazine or a Pinterest board and lose sight of creating a day that is authentically their own.

My advice is. .. sure, pin your little heart out, but also be realistic in your expectations.
