6 Summertime Drink Recipes for Every Occasion

With summertime in full swing, we expect these recipes to be hit at any occasion. Get ready to use fresh seasonal ingredients with your favorite mixers for the ultimate summertime drink recipes. The best thing about these recipes is they are just as delicious if you choose to skip the alcoholic ingredient.

 

Sweet Tea Sangria

We may not be in the south but we still get silly for sweet tea. Cool down and turn up with this southern classic with a twist.

Serves 6-8 cups:Sweet Tea Sangria

INGREDIENTS

6 c. sweet tea
bottle white wine
1 pt. berries
sliced peaches 
sliced oranges
Fresh mint

DIRECTIONS

Fill a pitcher with 6 cups sweet tea and a bottle of white wine.
Add berries (raspberries or strawberries), peaches, and oranges.
Let chill for a few hours or overnight.
Garnish with fresh mint.
For extra presentation points, serve in Mason jars.

Ginger-Peach Spritzer

Best served on a hot day! This sweet and soothing soda can quickly turn into an adult beverage with a splash of white wine. Either way bottoms up!

Serves 8 cups:

INGREDIENTS
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. minced fresh ginger
very ripe peaches
liter Seltzer
16 fresh mint leaves

DIRECTIONS

In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, bring 1 cup water, sugar, and ginger to a gentle simmer, stirring to dissolve sugar. Remove simple syrup from heat, cover, and steep for about 30 minutes.

Over a medium bowl, pour syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing minced ginger against sieve with the back of a spoon to extract flavor. Discard ginger. Cover bowl with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until well chilled.

Evenly distribute peach slices among 8 tall glasses. For each glass, lightly press peaches with the back of a wooden spoon to release their juice. Pour about 2 tablespoons chilled syrup over peaches.  Add ice cubes then top with seltzer. Stir to distribute syrup, peach juice, and seltzer evenly. Garnish with 2 mint leaves or a peach slice.

 

Honeyed Berry Daiquiri

Is it really summer without a daiquiri? This sweet and tart drink goes down smooth. Planning a summertime wedding? These drinks serve beauty and flavor.

1 Serving:berry daiquiri

INGREDIENTS
8 blueberries
4 raspberries
2 oz. light rum
3/4 oz. fresh lime juice, plus a slice for garnish
1 tbsp. Honey
Dash of bitters 
1/4 oz. maraschino liqueur (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Muddle berries in the bottom of the cocktail shaker until fruit is broken down and juices are released. Add rum, lime juice, honey, bitters, and maraschino liqueur, if desired. Fill with ice and shake until chilled, 20 to 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with berries or sprig of thyme.

Kiwi Lemonade Spritzer

Serves 8 cups:

INGREDIENTS
3/4 c. sugar
kiwis
2 c. lemon juice
1 c. water
1-liter bottle of seltzer water

lemon and/or kiwi wedges

 

DIRECTIONS
Purée the sugar and kiwi in a blender until smooth.

In a 1-quart container, stir together the lemon juice and water. Add the kiwi purée and stir. Chill until very cold.

To serve, pour 1/2 cup of the kiwi mixture into each of 8 tall glasses. Fill with ice and add roughly 1/2 cup seltzer water to fill the glass. If you like, spike a lemon and/or kiwi wedge on the rim of each glass.

Jalapeño-Spiked Bourbon

This cocktail was inspired by a state that does summer best-Kentucky, an icy-hot take on a Derby classic. This sweet with subtle spice mix is for the creative bartender. Your guests are sure to be impressed.

Single serving:

Jalapeno Julep

INGREDIENTS
fresh mint leaves
1 oz. Jalapeño Simple Syrup (recipe follows)
Crushed Ice
2 1/2 oz. bourbon
Club Soda
very thinly sliced jalapeño round
Jalapeño Simple Syrup
1 c. sugar
jalapeño peppers
DIRECTIONS

Pour Jalapeño Simple Syrup and add mint; gently bruise leaves with a muddler or wooden spoon. Add enough crushed ice to fill two-thirds of the cup. Add bourbon and stir gently; then add a bit more crushed ice. Top with a splash of club soda. Garnish with mint sprig and jalapeño.

In a small saucepan over high heat, combine 1 cup water, sugar, and jalapeños. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat and let steep 20 minutes.

Strain syrup, discard jalapeños, and cool syrup.

 

Peach Melba Mimosa

Dessert meets drink, meets brunch. Hey! It’s 5’oclock somewhere!peach mimosa

8 servings:

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 c. thawed frozen raspberries
1/4 c. sugar
1 c. thawed frozen peaches
7 fresh strawberries for garnish
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
bottle chilled champagne, cava, or other sparkling white wine
1/2 pt. fresh raspberries
1 1/2 c. thawed frozen raspberries
1/4 c. sugar
1 c. thawed frozen peaches
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
bottle chilled champagne, cava, or other sparkling white wine
DIRECTIONS

In a blender, puree frozen raspberries and 2 tablespoons sugar. Set a fine sieve over a small pitcher and strain puree; set aside.

Rinse blender, then puree peaches with remaining sugar, lemon juice, and 3 tablespoons cold water.

Spoon 2 teaspoons raspberry puree and 2 teaspoons peach puree into each glass. Top off each cocktail with champagne and garnish with fresh strawberries.
