Hey Loves!

Happy Friday! I’m starting a new series on the blog where we’re going to hear words of wisdom, or sisterly advice from recently (and not so recently) married ladies. This advice is practical and useful as you navigate the wedding planning process. Every Friday I will share advice, tips and guidance provided by one of our readers or a Savvy girlfriend (guys are welcome to chime in also – we’d love your input!).TheSavvyBride

This week I asked Alejandra K. “what advice do you wish you could share with the engaged You?” Here are her responses:

  • Nothing will go as planned. Get over it and roll with it.
  • Hire a coordinator for the day of. I did not do this and I wish I did.
  • Be honest and upfront with your husband. I added almost 25 people to my list and didn’t tell my husband until we got the final bill. He was upset with me but what hurt me the most is that I disrespected the man that I loved and was going to marry. I’ll never do that again.

For the fellas

  • I know you love your moms and your families, but your bride is YOUR family now and don’t allow for her to be eaten & beaten up by your mom, sisters, aunts, etc… It is already a very stressful time, and all she wants to do is celebrate you two. Stick up for her, take her side, love her and embrace the crazy.

If you would like to share tips, guidance and advice to recently engaged couples, please email deneitra@savvy-events.com. Include your first name and last initial and your favorite wedding photo (include photo credit, please).
